Begin by recognising and challenging the limiting beliefs that fuel your Hiding Part.


Replace thoughts like, “I’m not ready” with empowering affirmations such as, “Every step I take, no matter how small, moves me closer to my goals.” Invest in practices that nourish your emotional wellbeing, such as meditation, breathwork, or journaling. These activities create a sense of inner stability, making it easier to confront challenges.


Take time to reflect on past successes and the qualities that helped you achieve them. Building awareness of your strengths can serve as a powerful counterbalance to the fear of failure.

 


Clarity: Understanding Your Hiding Part

The Hiding Part often operates in the shadows, influencing your decisions without you fully realising it. To move past its hold, you must bring its motivations into the light and get some Clarity! This step is about understanding why this Part exists, what it fears, and what it needs to feel safe.


Pay attention to moments when you feel stuck, avoid action, or distract yourself with unimportant tasks.


These are often signs of your Hiding Part at work. Take a moment to explore what’s beneath the hesitation. Journaling can be particularly helpful for this.


Ask yourself:

  • What am I afraid might happen if I take this step?


  • What am I trying to avoid?


  • What is the worst-case scenario, and how would I handle it?


Instead of criticising yourself for hiding, recognise that this Part is trying to protect you. Approach it with understanding rather than judgement.

 

Congruence: Aligning Your Actions with Your True Self

Once you’ve gained Clarity about your Hiding Part, the next step is to realign your actions with your authentic self. Congruence means living in alignment with your core values, aspirations, and purpose—not the fears that hold you back.

For example, if courage is a core value, take a bold step that reflects it—such as sharing your ideas, pursuing a challenging goal, or seeking feedback.


Congruence is a journey, not a destination. Celebrate progress, however small, and use each step to build momentum towards greater alignment.

 

Choice: Empowering Yourself to Act Differently

The final step is reclaiming your power of Choice. The Hiding Part might urge you to retreat, but you have the ability to pause, reflect, and choose differently. This step is about breaking free from autopilot and intentionally choosing the life you want.


When you notice fear or hesitation, pause for a moment. Take a deep breath, ground yourself, and ask, “What choice will move me closer to my goals?”


Create a mental image of yourself successfully taking the action you fear. Imagine the confidence, growth, and fulfilment you’ll feel once you’ve done it.
